Terms and conditions
The plain version first: ALPHA is a research tool. It shows you what the data says and stops there. It does not tell you what to buy, it does not promise results, and every trading decision you make is yours.
The agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Victor Lafforgue, an independent trader (trabalhador independente) registered in Portugal, tax number (NIF) To be completed: NIF, professional address To be completed: professional address in Portugal ("ALPHA", "we", "us"). They cover this website, seewhatothersdont.com, and the ALPHA terminal (together, "the service"). By creating an account or paying for a plan you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data.
Research only, not advice
ALPHA provides research and information only. Nothing in the service is investment, financial, legal or tax advice, and nothing is a recommendation or a solicitation to buy or sell any security or other instrument.
- We do not know your finances, your objectives or your tolerance for risk, and nothing in the service takes them into account.
- Setups, screens, scores, statistics, research notes, AI-written summaries and anything posted in live rooms are information, not instructions.
- ALPHA is not a broker. It cannot place trades, and it does not hold or manage money for anyone.
- Trading and investing carry a real risk of losing money, including more than you put in with some instruments. Consider independent professional advice before you act.
No performance promises
We make no promise, express or implied, that using ALPHA will make you money or improve your results. Historical statistics, backtests, measured edges and resolved setups describe the past. They are not a forecast, and past performance does not guarantee future results. When a layer of the method has no measurable edge we say so, and a measured edge can shrink or disappear.
Data can be late or wrong
The service is built from market data, regulatory filings, official statistics, news and other sources, many of them run by third parties. We check them and flag gaps we know about, but we cannot guarantee that any of it is complete, accurate or current.
- Most data is updated overnight, not in real time. Some is delayed further.
- A feed can fail, arrive late, or be corrected later by its source.
- Filings and disclosures are shown as filed, and can themselves contain errors.
- AI-generated text can misread its sources.
Always check anything important against the original source before you rely on it.
Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a contract.
- Give us an email address that is yours and that you can receive mail at.
- An account is for one person. Do not share your sign-in, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account.
Subscriptions and billing
- Plans, prices and what each includes are shown on the pricing section. Prices are per month, or per year where a yearly option is offered.
- Payment is taken in advance, at the start of each billing period, by our payment provider, Stripe.
- Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel it.
- If we change a price, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to you. The new price applies from your next renewal after that notice, and you can cancel before it does.
- Prices include or exclude taxes as shown at checkout; any VAT or sales tax due is added where the law requires.
- If a payment fails, we may pause paid features until it succeeds.
Cancellation and refunds
- You can cancel at any time, from your account's billing settings or by writing to To be completed: support email.
- Cancellation stops the next renewal. You keep access to your plan until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- We do not refund part of a period you have already started, except where the law requires it or we say otherwise in writing.
- If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, you may have a legal right to withdraw from a new subscription within 14 days. When you ask us to start the service straight away, you agree that it begins during that period; if you then withdraw, we refund you minus a proportionate amount for the time already provided, as the law allows. To be completed: wording to be checked against the consumer law that applies
- Ending a subscription does not delete your account or what you entered in it. You can ask us to delete them at any time, as described in the privacy policy.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- copy, resell, republish or redistribute the service or its data, in whole or in bulk;
- scrape it, or access it by automated means other than those we provide;
- try to break, probe or get around its security or access controls;
- reverse engineer it, except where the law allows this despite these terms;
- use it for anything unlawful, including market manipulation;
- harass other members, or post content that is unlawful, misleading or not yours to share.
Some data in the service is licensed from third parties and may come with its own restrictions.
Live rooms and your content
What you enter in the service (journals, watchlists, trades, messages) stays yours. You give us permission to store it, process it and show it back to you, and, for what you post in a room, to the other members of that room, only as needed to run the service.
Ideas, callouts and opinions posted by other members are theirs, not ours. We do not check them and they are not advice from ALPHA. Room hosts decide who joins their rooms and are responsible for how they run them.
Our content
The service, its software, design, text and the analysis we produce belong to us or to our licensors. Your subscription gives you a personal, non-transferable right to use them for your own research while your plan is active. It does not transfer any ownership.
Availability and changes
We work to keep the service running, but we do not guarantee that it will be available without interruption or errors. We may need to stop it for maintenance, and we may change, add or remove features over time. If we remove something central to a paid plan, we will tell you in advance and you can cancel.
Liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for any trading or investment loss, or any loss of profit, revenue, data or opportunity, arising from your use of the service or your reliance on it;
- our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts other members or the service at risk, or is used unlawfully. Where it is reasonable, we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. If we close your account without fault on your part, we will refund the unused part of your current period.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Portuguese law, and disputes go to the courts of Portugal. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim there.
Complaints and dispute resolution
Write to us first; most problems are solved that way. You can also file a complaint in the Portuguese electronic complaints book, Livro de Reclamações. If you are a consumer and we cannot agree, you can take the dispute to an alternative dispute resolution body: the Centro Nacional de Informação e Arbitragem de Conflitos de Consumo (CNIACC), www.cniacc.pt. Using it does not take away your right to go to court.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and, for changes that matter, email account holders at least 30 days before they apply. If you keep using the service after that, the new terms apply; if you do not agree, you can cancel before they take effect.
